Sony Santa Monica announced this Wednesday (2) that the long-awaited sequel to God of War, which was scheduled to come out later this year, has been pushed back to 2022.
The news was shared by the studio’s Twitter account, thanking the fans for their support and explaining that this postponement was necessary to maintain the high quality of the game and preserve the team’s well-being.
“We remain focused on delivering a high-quality game while maintaining the safety and well-being of our team, creative partners, and families. With that in mind, we made the decision to change our launch window to 2022,” the statement states.
Along with that announcement, in a Q&A session posted on the PlayStation Blog, PlayStation Studios director Hermen Hulst also confirmed the postponement of the new God of War but revealed that the game will be cross-gen, meaning it will come out to the PS4 and PS5.
