In various stages of Super Mario World you will see colored spaces for blocks, which are activated by pressing the Switch button (the one with an exclamation mark). When you do this, the colored spaces for blocks become solid and you can use them as an alternate path.
In total, there are four colors for these blocks (so there are four Switch buttons): Yellow, Green, Red and Blue. So, we at CodioDesk decided to make this guide that will teach you how to activate these “secret” blocks.
How to unlock Yellow, Green, Red and Blue Block (Square Switch) in Super Mario World
Making these “invisible” blocks appear is simpler than it looks, but it can be laborious. Below you can see in which area of the map each Switch button is and what you need to do to get to the palace of each one of them:
- Palace of the Yellow Switch – Stay on Yoshi’s Island (go left). Pass the Yoshi’s Island 1 level and you will reach a level that on the game map itself shows the Yellow Switch.
- Palace of the Green Switch – This Switch’s palace is in Donut Plains. To reach it, find the secret exit with the key to the Donut Plains 2 level. Then, you will unlock the Green Switch Palace level.
- Red Switch Palace – It’s in Vanilla Dome. To get there, find the secret exit with the Vanilla Dome 2 level key. Then, you will unlock the Red Switch Palace level.
- Palace of the Blue Switch – It’s in Forest of Illusion. To get there, find the secret exit with the key to the Forest of Illusion 2 level. Then, you will unlock the Blue Switch Palace level.
Developed by Nintendo, Super Mario World was launched in 1990 for Super Nintendo (SNES) and today it is considered one of the most striking games in the world.
