MediaTek: the first quarter is a record

MediaTek apparently expects to see another 10-18 percent sequential increase in revenue in the second quarter of this year. The company expects that revenues will range between 118.8 and 127.5 billion new Taiwanese dollars (approximately 4.22-4.53 billion US dollars).

According to a report of DigiTimes, the chipmaker even increased domestic revenue growth and gross margin projections for this year to 40 percent and 44 to 46 percent, respectively. Furthermore, the company expects that momentum remains strong next year as well, as per sources close to the matter. The company has also initiated talks with its partners in its supply chain regarding capacity support for 2022 and has also performed well so far, according to the source.

Additionally, MediaTek reported its consolidated revenues for the first quarter of this year of approximately 108.3 billion New Taiwan Dollars. This figure has increased from 12.1 percent sequentially and also marks a significant increase of 77.5 percent year-over-year. In the same period, the Asian chipmaker also had a gross margin of around 44.9% and a net profit of US $ 25.77 billion.

This once again marks a sequential increase of 73.4% and a whopping 348% increasing year on year. Interestingly, both revenue and net earnings were new records for the company in the first quarter of 2021. The reason is simple: the cause of this booming business may have led to this. We also know that the company has managed to beat its historical rival Qualcomm thanks to the partnership with the big Chinese brands.
