Samsung leads the smartwatch industry in India
According to recent research conducted by the market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), the South Korean OEM was named as ” the largest smartwatch manufacturer”Present on the Indian market in the second quarter of 2021. According to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker, Samsung has seen shipments growth of 860% year-over-year.
In a statement from the IDC website, the Korean company said that the popularity of the Galaxy Watch Active 2 series and the Watch 3 helped the company capture 41.2% of the market in June 20221.
The company also stated that “the company is committed to enabling smartwatch users to lead a healthier lifestyle and hopes that the new Watch 4 series will usher in a new generation of products within the Watch series ”.
Furthermore, a recent report by Counterpoint suggests that India was ranked as the nation with the fastest growing market in the last quarter for smartwatches.
According to the Counterpoint report, Apple was the winner in the second quarter of 2021, but the company has seen a slight decline in its market share from last year. The company cites growing competition from Chinese brands as the reason for the decline of the Cupertino OEM. Meanwhile, Samsung had a great quarter with 43% year-on-year growth Garmin showed 62% growth on an annual basis in the last quarter.
Recall that the Korean manufacturer recently announced the Galaxy Watch4 series, which includes the Watch4 and the Watch4 Classic. The new watch series comes with the company’s bioactive sensor and many other elements. All of the new sensors help users monitor blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, irregular heart rate and atrial fibrillations.
