The best-selling smartphones? Apple dominance!
Let’s start with the fact that six out of ten positions are occupied by iPhone models. Furthermore, four of them took the top places in the ranking. The most popular and also the best-selling smartphone was the iPhone 12, followed by the Pro Max model and the “Pro” iteration with a 6.1-inch screen.
Experts say these three models accounted for 71% of all smartphones from the Cupertino giant sold during this period.
Noteworthy is the fact that, despite all the skepticism and bad forecasts from analysts, iPhone 12 mini managed to enter the top ten of the most popular devices and took the honorable eighth place. Although it sells worse than all models in the iPhone 12 line and by Apple standards, its production is still expected to drop over the months.
The fourth position was taken by the iPhone 11 and then the hit parade was diluted by representatives of the green robot camp. The fifth line was taken from the Redmi 9A and the sixth is from the Redmi 9. The seventh and ninth places were taken by the Samsung products: Galaxy A21S and Galaxy A31. iPhone SE 2020 closed the top 10 of the most popular smartphones in January.
Counterpoint Research concludes the statement by saying:
Samsung is aggressively promoting the Galaxy A series. It comes with premium design, fresh colors and latest specs at affordable prices. Through the A series, Samsung is also trying to attract HONOR device users; present in considerable numbers in Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia and MEA.
With the pace of 5G network deployments, OEMs are rolling out more 5G devices in various price segments. 5G is slowly becoming a standard offering and as prices continue to drop in the coming months we will see more smartphones with the aforementioned technology in the mid and low range as well.
